Microvision Intros Laser Pico Projectors for Mobile Big-Screen Sharing

The new SHOWWX+ HDMI offers pure digital connectivity including mobile big-screen sharing and visual collaboration on a wide range of new tablets, smartphones and devices offering HDMI video-out, enabling users to connect and project everything on their device screens at image sizes greater than 100 inches in a matter of second.

This compact, plug-and-play projector is the perfect accessory for sharing content while on the move, according to company officials. With devices like RIM's BlackBerry (News - Alert) PlayBook and Apple's iPad 2 featuring advanced operating systems, the projector enables true display mirroring, company officials said.

By adding HDMI connectivity to SHOWWX line of projectors, the company extends the family of host devices compatible with MicroVision's display delivering a larger, more vivid, focus-free viewing experience to an extended range of mobile devices once the HDMI standard is broadly adopted.

"We are giving road warriors the ability to share digital content in a compelling manner, from the palms of their hands," said Alexander Tokman, president and CEO of MicroVision, in a statement. "Extending our connectivity expands our device ecosystem. Now even more mobile device users can break free from huddling around their palm or pad-sized screens to enjoy a bigger and more immersive viewing experience anywhere, at work or play."

SHOWWX+ HDMI projects the content from a host device through HDCP compliance. In addition, MicroVision's unique in-motion laser display technology provides focus-free crisp images that do not suffer from the image deterioration or "color break-up" that often occurs with other projection technologies.

The projector is certified for use with Apple iPhone, iPad, iPad 2 and iPod touch. It also works with BlackBerry Playbook and Windows 7 tablets, a range of compatible Android and Symbian (News - Alert) smartphones, as well as Windows and Apple notebooks, netbooks and ultra portable HDMI-enabled devices. Additionally SHOWWX+ HDMI also works with compatible digital cameras and camcorders, as well as laptops and notebooks through an optional VGA dock.

MicroVision recently announced  SYNNEX (News - Alert) K.K. as the first authorized distributor of SHOWWX in Japan. SYNNEX will supply the laser based pico projector authorized for the Japanese market to key online and brick-and-mortar resellers, while also managing the product's localized marketing efforts and after-sales support.
